15 Months

Bella is officially 15 months old as of August 28th. It is so crazy that we now have a toddler, well I guess we have for a while. It's just so hard to believe she is such a big girl! I was not able to take her to her check up on Thursday, as I work all day and just took 2 days off when she was sick. Daddy was in charge, which made me nervous because he really hates when she has to get shots. Plus, I'm her Mommy, I wanted to be there! Anyway, of course Eric did great, he is a great daddy! Here are her stats for the month:
She is 32", which is in the 90th percentile for height. SHe is one tall girl!
She is 24.6 lbs, which is in the 75th percentile for weight. She continues to move down in this department. She started in the 95th percentile and has made her way down to the 75th. She is losing those chubby legs that I love so much! Her Dr. said her gums were swollen and she has molars coming in. Poor munchkin! She also gave Bella her first prescription, as she still has a runny nose after 2 weeks. She was pleased with her sleeping patterns, language, and overall appearance. Go Bella!

At 15 months, her favorite things:
-books: she still loves to read and read and read. My mom and I continue to buy her books all the time , as she loves to look and "read"them.
-playing with Sadie. When we get home, Sadie runs around everywhere out of excitement and Bella thinks its the funniest things she has ever seen. She laughs SO loud. She also just likes to lie on the floor on Sadie's tummy. THey are great pals.
-Eating: she is a super eater, and eats mostly everything. We have had some trouble lately with some veggies, but she loves fruit(raspberries and bananas are her fav) and will eat some veggies if I get creative at hiding them. She will eat spinach, eggplant, and broccoli. She is also eating with a fork and spoon. Albeit, not fantastic at it yet. However, I do give her a fork or spoon at every meal, whether she uses it or not is her choice. She has gotten pretty good at it. IF she can't get a piece of food on her fork, she will use her other hand and put it on the fork and then eat it. So cute! When I ask her if she wants to eat she yells "YAHHH".
-She loves to color with crayons or pens. She can sit forever and color.
-She loves the pool and water.
-She still adores Blues Clues.
-Pasta is her favorite type of food.
-She loves spending time w/ her Nino, Nana, Grandparents,Jen on a regular basis.
-She gets a kick out of being at our weekly "Girls Night" meetings. She always comes with me and soaks up all the attention from Jen, Deb,Meg,and Amy(Aunties) who all adore her. SHe is usually the center of our ladies nights.
-opening and closing doors. closing doors to keep her out, no longer works. She loves to open pantry door and take everything on her shelf out and then put it back. She also does this with our pull out drawer where I keep the tupperware. She will put it all back when I sing the "clean up song" and will clap when she is all done picking them up.
-She loves going on her walks with daddy to the dog park.
-She loves to snuggle. She has to be near me or daddy when we are home alone. She is a super snuggler. She will go back and forth to each of us to get hugs and kisses.
-Loves, and I mean Loves to dance! IF there is music on, she is getting down. I will definitely be enrolling her in dance classes.
-she loves her sleep. She will sleep 3 hours during the day and 10-12 hours at night.
-pushing her lawn mower around the house (thanks Auntie Fran and Frank).
-banging on drums, or anything that she can use as drums.
-singing. Because I work with little kiddos, I sing while doing everything, and I mean EVERYTHING! As a result, Bella loves music.
Developmental milestones:, this is like the checklist I have to use for every kid at work, so thought I'd do one for Bella :)
SPEECH & LANGUAGE SKILLS-uses many words expressively. She will try and imitate every word that we say, but Some of her favorites that she will use on her own: up, Mama, Dada, Tata, dog, Nana, bath, ball, diaper, boobie (don't ask!), duck, push, juice, baby, blue clue, shoes, beep-beep,papa (food), no, yes,pee-pee,poopoo, bee, bunny, more, walk-walk,wash-wash,book, thank you, yummy, jump, knock-knock,no.
Of course she doesn't say each word with every consonant, but you can understand what she's saying. She loves those P's, B's, M's, N's, D's sounds, which is typical for her age.
The average for 15 month old babies is to be using 10 words expressively so, Bella is doing great in this area.

-her receptive vocabulary is fabulous. I cant list all the words that she understands.
-She can follow simple instructions like "go get your shoes", "give this to daddy", "give daddy kiss", etc.
FINE AND GROSS MOTOR SKILLS-
Her fine motor skills are pretty good. She can hold small things in her hand as well as pick them up. She can hold crayon and pen in her hand well, and seems to show a left hand preference thus far.
-Her gross motor skills are great as well.
- She tries super hard to jump
-walking and running skills are really good.
-Great at taking off her shirt and shorts, as well as help put them on.
-she can throw and kick balls
-can crawl up stairs.
SOCIAL/EMOTIONAL SKILLS
-she is very independent. She can play by herself for long periods of time. She prefers to do everything on her own.
- She loves people and wants everyone to pick her "UP". In fact, her and I were at the store, and she asked some random woman "UP". That is her favorite word and I'm wondering why I taught it to her as she will say it a million times a day :)
-she likes other children. She is doing fabulous in the church and gym nursery, no more crying!
-she will use phone and pretend to talk.
-she smiles at everyone.
-blows kisses.
-she knows that with Mommy, Daddy, and her sitter she has rules. She knows "No" means "No" pretty well . I know this won't last though, as she is getting closer to 2 yrs old. She knows she can get away with more with certain people :)
-if she gets upset because she she doesnt get what she wants, it's very short-lived. She has realized her whining isn't going to get her anywhere.
-if we say NO in a too stern voice for her, she will pout her lip and sometimes cry.
-she has been known to swipe her hand at a kid if they take her toy.
-she will throw her head back and do a fake cry if she doesnt get her way! It's kinda funny to watch!

Overall, our little munchkin continues to do very well. She is such a joy to be around, and Eric and I, as well as Grandparents, Godparents, and friends are doing our best to raise Bella with a happy and fun spirit. We love you Bella!
